Dr. Wayne Carman is the Director and founder of the Cosmetic Surgery Institute, an exclusive private surgical facility in midtown Toronto. A member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in Plastic Surgery, Dr. Carman has been in private clinical practice for over 25 years and is the past Director of the Scarborough General Hospital Burn Unit.
He is a member of The Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, The Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, The American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Scarborough Hospital Surgical Society. Dr. Carman's extensive experience in reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery enables him to offer his patients a full range of facial and body contouring procedures.
Dr. Carman is a graduate of the University of Toronto. He completed both his Bachelor of Science and Medical School training at U of T. The postgraduate course in Plastic Surgery, also undertaken at the University of Toronto, included a research year, which led to his Master of Science degree. Following the successful completion of his Fellowship examinations in Plastic Surgery, Dr. Carman studied abroad, spending time as a senior fellow in Gothenberg, Sweden and London, England.
Following his return to Toronto, and further post-graduate training in the Trauma Unit at the Sunnybrook Heath Sciences Center, Dr. Carman took a position as an Active Staff Surgeon in the Division of Plastic Surgery at Scarborough General Hospital – now The Scarborough Health Network. He is the past Director of the Scarborough General Hospital Burn Unit and is the past Chief of Plastic Surgery at TSH.
Dr. Carman is actively involved in many professional organizations and takes a leading role in the governance and evolution of his specialty.
